You have written a book now what? How do you get people to know about your book? Where do you begin?
All of which are great questions. First and foremost, everyone will have a different way that is going to work for them. One of the key things to remember as you start on this journey is marketing doesn't have to be a scary or labour intensive thing, it can be something that can be fun, playful and incredibly creative.
Specifically, in this article, we will look at self-publishing and marketing ebooks as they are relatively inexpensive to publish and easy to distribute to your customer. Right here, are my secrets:
1. Make sure people can find your product.
It doesn't matter whether you are a singer, a dentist or an author, if nobody can find you or your product, it doesn't matter how amazing it is. One of the simplest ways to do this is to have a blog and a website you can share on social media and newsletters.
2. Now some of you may be worried because you don't have a following. Not true you do have a following it is your friends and family. Don't discount them, especially on Facebook.
If you use me as an example, say you posted something about your book and I like it or comment on that post, it will now go into my newsfeed, and I have 5000 friends. That one post will be in my newsfeed of potential 5000 of my friends seeing it. And of those 5000 friends could have 1000 to 5000 literally, that post in a very short time could reach millions of people.
That's how posts will go viral!
3. Let people in! Folks are fascinated by the creative process.
People love getting a little teaser about the book and how you got there. So start writing articles on your process and start sharing that on social media. People also love to be included in your process. To engage with people and ask if they will contribute. It might be you are looking for the name of one of your characters or where to set a particular scene. People love to contribute, and it's a great way to build a following.
